Picture Frames: Picture perfect Valentine’s Day gift craft

valentines day picture frames craft

This weekend we headed over to Michael’s for their free weekend craft event. We were definitely excited about picking up some new craft supplies as well as making what we hoped would turn into several Valentine’s Day gifts.  It wasn’t what I expected- it was actually a whole lot better!  This weekend we created picture perfect gifts for the grandparents for Valentine’s Day.

Supplies needed for Picture Perfect Valentine’s Gifts

Wooden picture frames (these have hangers on the back as well as table stands).

Glue

Paper plates

Sponge brushes

Tissue paper

Embellishments (we hit up the $1.00 aisle and picked up some beautiful owls, birds and hearts)

To make your picture frame gifts

Pour some glue onto a paper or styrofoam plate.

Leave the store insert in the frame to that glue doesn’t get down in there.

Spread a thin layer of glue in a specific section of your frame using sponge brushes.  Do not cover the entire frame at once or the glue will dry too fast.

Decorate with pieces of tissue paper.  These were in red, pink, peach, cream, white and a light brown-almost euchre color.  As you can see in the top of the image above you can twist the papers to make them “bunch” up for a more floral or three dimensional look.   I was in a mosaic mood so that’s mine in the center.

Work your way around the entire frame.  You can alternate or form designs.  Whatever looks good to you.   We then took an wooden owl and placed it in the corner.  The girls used the hearts.

  1. You have some really cute ideas here! I especially love this one. My kids enjoy giving away photos that they take, so this would make them even more special.
